Karolinska at the NUHA Annual Summit in Oslo
This year's summit marked the formal handover of the NUHA chairmanship from Denmark to Norway, with Oslo University Hospital taking the chair for the 2026–2028 period. Discussions centred on translating shared ambitions into concrete actions across patient care, research, education and innovation.
A recurring theme throughout the summit was the role of trust and collaboration as the foundation for meaningful progress. The ability to move quickly, act transparently and deliver results across borders does not happen through structures alone. It grows through relationships. For the future of healthcare, this kind of deep Nordic cooperation is what will allow the alliance to be agile, aligned and impactful where it matters most.
Olof Akre, Director of Research, Education and Development at Karolinska University Hospital, and Core Task Lead within Research and Innovation in NUHA, reflected on the collaborative dynamic:
"The strength of NUHA lies in its people. Our role is to connect our outstanding experts and lower the barriers to close collaboration across disciplines and institutions."
With defined priorities and strengthened relationships, NUHA enters its next phase of Nordic cooperation with renewed momentum.
