Medical Diagnostics Karolinska (MDK) is the center for advanced and high-profile diagnostics, interventions, and treatments to meet both the current and future needs of our patients. The center includes the entire diagnostics area within the fields of laboratory medicine, radiology, nuclear medicine, medical radiation physics, radiopharmacy as well as radiation safety.  

Our work covers a variety of advanced diagnostics utilized from the prenatal stage of life until after death. From individual proteins and genes to the anatomy and function of entire organs. From prevention of common diseases to the most highly specialized diagnostics and treatment of rare diseases.  
 
Medical Diagnostics Karolinska continuously plays a crucial role for our patients during all steps in the healthcare chain. With a staff of approximately 3,300, we aim to ensure that every patient receives the best possible care based on their own unique conditions. Our center manages 29 million samples, analyses, treatments, blood sample collections, and consultations every year, performing comprehensive emergency services around the clock. We are one of northern Europe’s largest centers for child and youth radiology examinations. We also offer one of Europe's widest ranges of pharmaceutical analysis and drug tests.  
  
Through increased collaboration among our various areas of expertise, we offer a unified, optimized, and precise diagnostic assessment for each patient, which often includes both counseling and treatment. We provide reviews, both nationally and internationally, and have a unique and broad knowledge of all highly specialized diagnostic areas.
