Breast cancer care is a part of the Karolinska Comprehensive Cancer Center, where cutting-edge expertise in highly specialized cancer care and cancer research come together.

Breast cancer is the second most common type of cancer in Sweden (after prostate cancer), and at Karolinska Breast Center, we receive advanced cases from all over Sweden.  Examinations and treatments are customized for each patient so that the patient feels safe and provided with the best possible treatment.

Karolinska Breast Center is a full-service center and offers multidisciplinary expertise from our team of specialists. Our staff is continuously updated with the latest research,  allowing us to provide the most up-to-date treatments.

Around 900 breast surgeries are performed annually, and about 75% of them are breast-conserving procedures. About 25-30% of all patients diagnosed with breast cancer start treatment with cytostatic or other medications. A high number of our patients are offered the opportunity to participate in clinical studies through close collaboration with our clinical trial unit at Karolinska University Hospital and research nurses.
